The 4 Pitfalls That Most Sellers Never Mention

The roller shutter box is the main sound bridge in a window. Located directly above the windowpane, it creates a direct opening to the outside that the shutter can only compensate for if the installation takes this into account: the shutter must extend beyond the box, ideally up to the ceiling or above the window opening.

Side leaks occur when the curtain does not extend far enough beyond each side of the opening. Sound then escapes around the edges of the fabric. General rule: allow for at least 15 to 20 cm of overhang on each side.

The air gap between the curtain and the window glass plays an acoustic and thermal role. A curtain that is in direct contact with the window loses some of its effectiveness. A minimum distance of 10 to 15 cm between the fabric and the window glass is recommended.

The track ensures a smoother, tighter seal than a traditional curtain rod by eliminating side gaps and uneven drapes. This configuration provides the best acoustic performance—which is why we offer it made-to-measure in France.
